Keen to continue our support of Fribourg's cultural landscape, Belluard Festival has invited gallery space PAH! to be part of our programme in 2013. PAH! has asked artist Martin Jakob to present his work at the Ancienne Gare in response to the 30th edition's theme FUTURE NOSTALGIA.
"Martin Jakobs uses raw materials from daily life as the tools for his work. With this 'junk' the artist appropriates and reinvents spaces that we are no longer conscious of, unlocking our imagination. An artist closely associated with his tools, Jakob positions himself agains the trend of the artist entrepreneur… Between earth and sky, and with recovered objects and everyday trinkets, Martin Jakobs transports us to worlds that we are only used to inhabiting within our dreams." PAH! opened its doors in Fribourg in Rue de Zähringen in 2010 before moving to the Ancienne Gare in April 2013. PAH! exists to promote exhibitions by artists and curators. PAH! is a dynamic project in constant interaction with the urgency of artistic expression and the needs of spectators. PAH! is as much a platform for the exchange of contemporary cultural experiences as it is a programme of exhibitions, readings, conversations and events.
